Caring for Bamboo
Bamboo fabrics treat your baby’s skin with the utmost care, and it pays off to return the love. We recommend the following measures to keep your garments staying softer for longer:
- Place garments in a laundry bag for extra protection
- Machine wash cold on a handwash or delicate cycle
- Wash with like colours (ideally with other muslin and rayon material)
- Use a minimal amount of mild detergent
- Tumble dry low or air dry
- Do not iron
It is best to avoid any fragrances, dyes and other hard to pronounce extras that can cause irritation to your baby’s already sensitive skin. Any product that will whiten or brighten may also deteriorate the fibers in your products so if you must use, do so sparingly and as infrequently as possible. The same caution applies to bleaches.
As a best practice, do a spot treatment first before washing the whole item.
Stain removal
Vinegar is an amazing natural stain remover, but sometimes you need something with a bit more kick. An enzyme-based stain remover, like Arm and Hammer Plus Oxi Clean can be used to pre-treat those stubborn stains. Work a small amount of the detergent into the area and leave for 15 minutes before washing as above.
Hand washing
Pre-treat any stains and fill your sink with room temperature water. Add a small amount of gentle soap or detergent into water and mix well. Gently “agitate” the garments as you submerge them into the water until the fabric is fully saturated. Allow to soak for 30 minutes. Then rinse well with room temperature water until the items are no longer sudsy. You can use litmus paper to test the PH if you are unsure.
Remove excess water (gently wring or press) and air dry.
